Warning: This blog post is shameless love for Russell Brand, and if you are not okay with that you should stop reading here.
While I was sad to hear that Katy Perry and Russell Brand are divorcing after only 14 months of marriage, a part of me is relieved that it is over. You see, Russell is my favorite celebrity of all time, and I love, love, LOVE this man!
I know that a lot of people don't like him, (and those people should probably get off of my blog now), but he just seems to be the most genuine person I've ever seen. I absolutely can not stand people who put on and pretend to be someone that they are not, and that is why I love him so.
I also have a bit of a bleeding heart when it comes to people who face their demons, and Russell has battled his addictions for such a long time now and it has made me so happy to see him get clean.
I remember watching the VMA's and seeing him give his beautiful, heartfelt tribute to Amy Winehouse and then seeing Katy talking about getting shit-faced, black out drunk and wondering to myself if anyone else saw that as a conflict of interest. I mean, my thinking was she could have put the party girl away for one night out of respect for what her husband was saying. Or, at the very least, get shit faced black out drunk without announcing it to the world.
I have to say that I see it as sort of a disrespectful thing, for Katy to run around partying, drinking, what seems like pretty much all the time now, while her sober husband is at home. That just seems off to me, and it always has. It had to bother him, come on, I know it would bother my hubs if it was our situation.
I have to say that I really am sorry for them to be splitting up. She seemed to really make him happy, at first anyways. I think that he was ready to be a grown up, and settle down, and she was not. I am sad for him that his marriage is ending, but I hope that he will be able to find happiness, for real this time. (And Russell, you are more than welcome to come hang out with me and my guys. If you want domestic bliss, we have enough for everyone!)
