Rock 'N Learn Sight Words DVD review!

Tater was so excited when he got the new Rock 'N Learn Sight Words dvd to review! He is working really hard in Kindergarten on reading, and sight words, so this was perfect for him! 

We have used the Rock 'N Learn dvd's in the past, and we love them! They are catchy, and fun, and they are also entertaining! 

We were really excited to watch this DVD! After watching the dvd just a couple times, Tater could read me the words that were on the front of the dvd, like "up", "down", and "go". I was so proud!

I am so proud of Tater for learning these words! His teacher says he is doing a wonderful job, and he knows almost all of the words on their flash cards! I can honestly say he didn't know any of these words until he started watching the Sight Words dvd. Thanks again Rock 'N Learn!

Sprucing Up For Fall!

Here at Flip Out Mama we are gearing up for our "Room Rehab" event, where we will be sprucing up our home for fall and showcasing tons of great products for your home! (If you are a company who would like to sponsor our Room Rehab event just email me!) 

Anywho, upon thinking of great products for our event, I have noticed the need for some new lighting here at the Flip Out Mama compound. So... yeah. Here's what I'm thinking...

First of all, the bathroom lights have got to go! I'm thinking some kind of new wall lighting fixtures in there, probably something like this: 

Pretty, huh???? But, that is just the tip of the iceberg.. We are finally going to be able to get some table lamps again, since The Bean is now big enough to understand "don't touch" LOL! So, that starts the whole table lamp search.. my favorite: 

Ohhhh, Ahhh! Sooo pretty! But, I am torn between a traditional table lamp, and all the great buffet lamps I have found. I really think I like these the best: 

Kinda funky, but so cute! Anyhow, this has given me much to think about. Sigh. Lamps, lamps, lamps!

From my lovely hometown news: 

Police in Rockcastle County said Monday that a road rage incident Monday morning between two elderly brothers that began on southbound I-75 ended up with accidents that involved four vehicles.

The incident began at about 9:20 a.m. when State Police in London received a report from an off-duty KSP trooper of two vehicles involved in what appeared to be a car chase on I-75 southbound in Rockcastle County

. Police say a white van operated by Clyde White, 78, of Corbin was chasing a blue van operated by Lawrence White, 82, of Lexington when both vehicles exited the interstate at exit 62. The white van was seen crashing into the blue van multiple times as they traveled southbound on KY 461 at speeds reportedly in excess of 100 mph.

As the two vehicles neared US 150, the driver of the white van used his vehicle to force the blue van into a white utility van parked on the southbound shoulder. This parked van was owned by Direct TV and occupied by Dakota McWhorter of Waco, KY, who sustained no injuries.

Both occupants of the blue van sustained injuries and were transported from the scene by EMS and air ambulance. The passenger of the blue van is identified as Dorothy Whitaker, 83, of Richmond. She remained in critical condition Monday afternoon. Lawrence White was treated and released.

Police say Clyde White fled the scene of the crash but impacted a tractor-trailer operated by James Langford, of Tennessee and owned by Big G Express, Inc. of Shelbyville, Tennessee. This vehicle remained in service and the operator was not injured.

The motive for this incident remains under investigation and Clyde White, Lawrence White, and Dorothy Whitaker were identified as siblings.

Clyde White was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of wanton endangerment. He is being held in the Rockcastle County Detention Center.

 What the effing eff??? Are you serious?? This 78 year old guy and this 82 year old guy driving 100 mph+, running each other off the roads, running into innocent people??? 

I swear to God, my boys better not be behaving like this when they are old men. Guess sibling wars never really end, do they?? 

Anyways... as always, only in Kentucky. Sigh.

Peaceable Kingdom Stone Soup Game Review!

I recently discovered a company called Peaceable Kingdom, and I absolutely LOVE them! They make wonderful products for kids, products that are fun and fresh, but also educational! 

We got to review the Stone Soup Game from Peaceable Kingdom! I was so excited to review this game, since it was the first Cooperative Game that I have ever seen. I was really interested in this kind of game, since it means that everyone either wins together or loses together.. This is great, no fighting! 

Here's how it works: 

From the classic tale of cooperation comes this simple game where players work together to “cook” a soup by making matches of ingredients. Match all of the ingredients before the fire under the kettle goes out and everyone wins! Turn all cards face down on the board. Players take turns turning 2 cards face up. If they match, place the 2 cards in the kettle area of the board. If they do not match, turn them face down. If a player turns a Fire Out card face up, the Fire Out card is placed on the fire area. If 10 Fire Out cards are placed in the fire area before all 12 matches are made, players lose. But wait, there is 1 magic stone card that can turn any Fire Out card face down again on the board. Players decide together when to use the magic stone card to help keep the soup cooking!

We have really enjoyed playing this game! I can't wait til Bean is big enough for both of them to play together! I love that it is not an "I Win, You Lose" kind of game, but instead a way to encourage teamwork and patience.. Just what my guys need!

Bright Starts Lion In The Park Activity Gym Review!

Well, don't get any ideas.. This is NOT for me! 

We just found out that my hubby's niece is going to be having a baby girl in December! 

Yay!!!! 

I have never had a baby girl to spoil, so we are gearing up to love love LOVE this little baby girl! 

So, when I got the chance to review a Bright Starts Activity Gym, I was totally game! 

This is the Lion In The Park Activity Gym. Isn't it the cutest? 

I love the bright colors! Initially, I was looking for something pink and purple and frilly, ya know.... but I absolutely fell in love with this one when I saw it! I figure, baby girls have so much pink and frilly, they need some bright and happy colors too!

I really love that you can use this as several different things! In this picture, it is being used as a tummy time mat! It comes with 4 different toys: A Mirror, Colorful Bead Rattle, Spiraling Bead Chaser, and Bee Shaped Water Filled Teether! It also includes the cute little ladybug that you can pull and it plays four melodies... So cute! 

The Activity Gym also includes six extra links to add additional toys, and the best part: It's MACHINE WASHABLE!!! There is nothing better for a spit-up-y baby! I also have read that you can attach the toys to the handle of your car seat.. Who doesn't love multiple uses?!?!?! 

I can't wait for the new little baby girl to get here so we can spoil her rotten and take some pictures of her playing with this cutey lion! What they do is actually pretty simple, they raise both of your analog sticks buy about 1/4 inch or so.

I know it doesn't sound like it does anything fancy right? 

WRONG!

I play alot, too much really.

And I am good, not great but good...

The FPS Freeks take my play style up a few notches by giving me more range of motion in both up and down and side to side. 

The added height to the joysticks make it easier to set your sensitivity way up, I mean WAY up!
I usually
keep my sensitivity on around 5 or 6, not with these things on. 

I have it as high as it will go! 

With the sensitivity up, I am able to look left to right as I run to do a quick scan of what ever map I am on, without losing place of the center because I looked too far either way.

One thing they really help with is my trick shots, you ever try to 360 quick scope on someone with your sensitivity on 6?

Not gonna happen.

Helps get that phenomenal game winning kill cam every time. 

I wish I would have had these about a year ago, or 2, but you can bet they will be firmly attracted to my controller on Nov,8,2011!

I Love these things!

We also received a really awesome package of Rcade Freeks! I don't play many games that I could use these with, but my little man plays Pac Man a lot, and he really liked using these!

Going Back To School.. Is It Possible?

Sometimes I wonder if it really will ever be possible for me to go back to school.. I am really not so sure. 

Between blogging and housework, being a mommy during the day, and working at night, It really just seems like there is never enough time to fit in the things I already have on my plate. How would I ever juggle something else? I would definitely have to go about it in a more non-traditional way, that is for sure. 

I recently came across this site: WaldenU.edu, I was surprised to learn that Walden University is an all-online college for people just like me! I love that I could do it all from home, while blogging, doing housework and taking care of the kids! Walden University's Online Degree Programs include everything from Forensic Psychology to Child Development. They even have PHD programs!

While I am not sure that this will ever be a viable option for me, it sure does give me something to think about! If you would like to learn about Walden and what it has to offer, check them out today!

Hot Wheels Nitro Speeders Review and #Giveaway!

Last week, a horrible incident happened. Bean threw Tater's beloved Nintendo DSI in the toilet. It was a sad, sad day. Then, we got a package...and the day was saved!

(Since now he can't take his DS... *tear*) Another thing I like about the Hot Wheels Nitro Speeders is that they use two AA batteries for the controller... but those same batteries are used to charge the car when you plug it into the controller when are done playing! LOVE that idea! The only thing that we didn't like about the car was that sometimes they go so fast that you can't really control them, and they often end up somewhere that you didn't mean for them to! But, the boys both LOVE the fact that they go so fast!

Check Out Game Time: Tackling The Past on NBC Saturday, Sept 3!

Walmart and P&G are at it again! Teaming up for another Family Movie Night this Saturday, Sept 3, at 8PM ET on NBC! The movie this time: Game Time: Tackling the Past! What a perfect movie to usher in the Fall Football Season!

Here's a little bit about the movie: 

Synopsis: Pro football star Jake Walker is living the dream… or so he thinks. The veteran tight end is a fan favorite and on pace to set the all-time receiving yards record that will guarantee him a spot in the Hall of Fame. While working out at training camp, Jake receives an unexpected call from his brother Dean – their father Frank has suffered a major heart attack. Jake immediately leaves practice and returns to Riverton, North Carolina, the small hometown he’s avoided for nearly 15 years. Memories of glory and regret flood his mind as he returns to the family and friends he abandoned in pursuit of his career. Jake dutifully visits with Frank and Dean, but hurt and misunderstanding from the past begins to resurface, leaving him counting the days until he can return to his team.

A second unexpected call, this time from his agent, delivers Jake another crushing blow. His contract is not being renewed amid concerns about his surgically repaired knee. Suddenly, the life Jake knows is over. To avoid the media circus around this news, Jake reluctantly decides to extend his stay in Riverton. I knew my boys would really enjoy this movie! I was right, they were in to it all the way until the very end! Even though it was a football movie, it has a great story line and definitely kept Mom entertained too! I love the fact that when Walmart and P&G get together for Family Movie Night, it's always a good movie that my whole family can watch together! We always have a hard time getting something for everyone, but this one was perfect!

Family Movie Night has come out with a ton of great movies in the past, and this one is no exception. The point behind Family Movie Night is to bring families together and get everyone talking about movies with a great message behind them!Make sure to join Family Movie Night on Facebook to stay up to date with all their latest productions!  I think we are going to watch the movie again this Saturday! Suave Professionals Review and Giveaway!

My nappy hair has been documented on many occasions. I am always on the lookout for something to tame the frizz, help the curls, smooth the waves, etc.. But, being a poor chick, I don't have a lot of money to spend on hair products. If I did, I would just pay for some magical treatment that would take away the yucky hair stuff! But alas, I am not. I am usually stretching my hair care budget between Tater's hot wheel obsession, and Beans eat-all-the-food-in-the-house obsession, so the available funds are usually pretty slim! 

But, lucky for me, I recently got the opportunity to try out some of the Suave Professionals Hair Care Line! I have seen these products in the store, but I haven't ever bought them before. I was really intrigued when I saw the tiny price tag! Could a line of products so cheap really work? I was about to find out! 

The first product I tried was the Touchable Finish Lightweight Hold Hairspray. I used this hairspray on a day that I had straightened my hair and just needed to tame a few flyaways. I really liked this spray. It was a lot lighter than most of the hairsprays that I have used in the past. I liked that you can use it as you style your hair, as well as at the end to finish your style. If you need a stronger hold, you can just reapply in layers until you reach the desired level of hold! This hairspray was a winner!! 

The next product I got to review was the Captivating Curls Cream Mousse. This mousse is alcohol free, and has an anti frizz complex. Who doesn't like that?!?! I really thought this mousse did a great job. Normally, I have an aversion to mousse, because my curls usually end up crunchy.. But not this time! This time my curls were soft and defined, not crunchy or frizzy! I was very impressed! This mousse also smells great, and a little of it goes a long way! This one? Also A Winner!

I was also really excited to try some Suave Professionals Shampoo and Conditioner. We received Black Raspberry and White Tea. One word: YUM! The smell of this shampoo and conditioner was awesome! Black Raspberry and White Tea are known for their antioxidant properties, so I was glad to see a shampoo made from them. I immediately fell in love with this shampoo and conditioner. It really works well, and my hair felt so much smoother, not to mention cleaner, after using it! I love the way the yummy smell lasts! I can still smell the shampoo in my hair the next day, even after a long night of work! Yay!

I was so impressed with all of the Suave Professionals products that I got to try! I will be buying them in the future! I am now convinced that a lower price does not equal lower quality, at least where Suave is concerned!

Thank You SeaPak for Broadening My Kids Fish Horizons!

My kids, God love their hearts, are not very adventurous when it comes to food. They have a few favorite things, but they don't stray too far from those. At all. I've been working on them though! 

When SeaPak was nice enough to let us review their new Popcorn Fish, I was pumped! It looked so good, just staring at the bag made me hungry!

But, alas, I had to do some real talking to get my boys interested. 

"What are those, Mom?"

"Fish, boys. Really yummy fish!"

They were not convinced. .. 

But finally, I lied my way into getting them to try them! They were okay with it once I told them they were Fish Stick Balls! LOL 

After that, everybody wanted some!

We really enjoyed the new Popcorn Fish from SeaPak! I love that they are ready in the oven in only 14 minutes! I mean, who isn't all for a healthy, quick meal? And unlike fish sticks, these are made from whole Pollock fillets, and not minced fish! Yay! 

These are soo good! I really enjoyed them! So, much so, that I bought two more bags the next time I went to the grocery! They didn't last long, Tater and one of his little friends ate them all for an after school snack!

Flat Iron Experts Knows What Mom Needs!

I think it's pretty easy to see, I blog mostly about stuff for the kids. But, occasionally, a product comes along that mommy just REALLY wants!

This time that product came from Flat Iron Experts. They are a one stop online beauty shop specializing in some of the best professional styling products on the market today!

I have some really nappy hair. I mean really. It's thick, it's frizzy, it's curly. It's yuck. I am always trying to straighten it to make it look a little better. Going Back To School With Cadoozles From Zebra Pens!

I can't believe that my little baby boy is officially a Kindergartener. No more big fat crayons, or fingerpaints. We're the real deal now, with pencils and folders and notebooks. I was even informed that he would like some "cool pencils", and not the "junky" yellow ones.. So, I was on a mission. 

How do you think I did guys? These are Cadoozles from the Zebra Pen company! Aren't they so cute!? I love the Cadoozles, they are mechanical pencils that come in six bright and fun themes! 

I love the fact that they look just like a regular pencil, down to the eraser. That way Tater gets used to using a "real" pencil, how to hold it, etc, but still gets the fun designs, and the "super cool" look!

I also like that now he doesn't need to worry about keeping up with a pencil sharpener. I can help him fill the lead and then he doesn't have to worry about it. These pencils are a great hit with Tater and his friends. In fact, even his teacher asked me where we got them!

I am so excited to announce that I am a Glow Crazy Brand Ambassador! I love Glow Crazy products, and I was so excited to be able to work with them again!! Tater really loved the Glow Crazy Distance Doodler, so we were really excited to get to try the Glow Crazy Glow To Go this time around!

Now, let me start off by saying I am always trying to find products to keep the boys busy in the car.. This one is perfect for Tater! He is crazy about drawing, coloring and art anyway, so this was right up his alley! The Glow To Go includes four different colored glow pads, a easy to carry handle, and a lightwand (attached with a string so it won't get lost!) I liked the fact that it has a pocket to keep the stencils in.. We had a really hard time keeping up with the Distance Doodler stencils, so this will help a lot! We do a lot of driving at night, so this was great for Tater to keep busy in the car. He seems to have an aversion to sleeping in the car, so I was happy to see him find something to play with! Just like the Distance Doodler, this quickly became one of his favorite toys, and I was really happy to be able to get a chance for him to review it!
