How to Throw a Baby Shower on a Budget

Image
Throwing a baby shower can get expensive ridiculously fast. Between the food, decorations, invitations, games, favors, and gifts, it's easy to spend way more than you planned. The good news is that you absolutely do not need a huge budget to throw a baby shower that feels special. With a little planning (and knowing where it's actually worth spending your money), you can put together a really cute shower without spending a fortune. Whether you're planning for a friend, sister, daughter, or someone else you love, here are some of my favorite ways to throw a baby shower on a budget without making it look like you threw a baby shower on a budget. 1. Choose a Budget-Friendly Location One of the easiest ways to blow your baby shower budget is paying for a venue. Before you book one, think about the free or inexpensive spaces you already have available. We ended up having my baby shower at my sister's townhouse, which gave us a cozy space without adding a venu...

A Candid Guide to Childbirth: The Truth About Having A Baby

Image
Hey, courageous readers! If you're not afraid of a little real talk, buckle up because we're diving into the untold truths of childbirth. Warning: it's not your average bedtime story. So, if you're faint of heart, consider this your exit pass. Expect the Unexpected Blood Show: Everyone skirts around it, but let’s lay it out there – there will be blood. Not just any blood, but clots. Think fruit-sized. Lemons, limes, kiwis – you get the idea. It might look like your insides are staging a grand escape, but fear not. It’s normal. Consider yourself forewarned. U nleash the Uncontrollable: Brace yourself for a symphony of bodily mayhem. Puking? Check. Teeth chattering? Double-check. Alternating between freezing and burning up? Absolutely. Post-birth contractions that rival the ones before? You bet. The birthing journey kicks off with surprises; I found myself introducing my newborn to the world with a side of nausea. Talk about a memorable entrance! Hospital Stay Rea...

More Kid Friendly Trips In Central Kentucky. (Part 2) #TravelBlogger #Kentucky #Trips #Vacay #TripsWithKids #Review

Image
A few days ago, I told you guys about a couple of kid-friendly day trips in and around the Central Kentucky area. If you didn't get a chance to check out that post, you can see it here. Well, after looking around researching destinations for that post, I realized that there were tons of places that we have never been, and tons of places that I was leaving out! I just had to follow up with another post with more kid friendly trips in Central Kentucky.  Our family has been to a few of these places, but not in the last few years. We really just haven't had the extra money to do much fun stuff. Hopefully soon we will be back on track and be able to take the boys to a few of these places!  I have come up with a few little "mini trips" that I would like to take this year, and I will share them with you guys!   My first little "mini trip" would be in Louisville. It's not too far away to drive with two screaming kids, and there is en...

Baby Shower Bash: Super Baby Food!

Image
Our next Baby Shower Bash sponsor is a wonderful book called Super Baby Food! This book is pretty much the Bible of Baby Food! It contains everything you need to know about feeding your baby. This book is a must-have for new parents, as it discusses what, when, and how much to feed your baby and toddler. It also has tons of info on making your own baby food, which is great!  Ruth Yaron is the author of Super Baby Food. In 1985, her twin boys were born ten weeks early and very sick. This is what prompted her to take control of their nutrition and learn everything she could about infant and pediatric nutrition. This is where the idea for the Super Baby Food book came about, so that she could share these wonderful things that she had learn with other moms!  I know that the Super Baby Food Book will come in especially handy for Crystal and baby Sadie! It covers the importance of mealtimes and also has a month by month guide to introducing new foods. It also has a guide that t...

Balloon Time makes several different helium balloon kits, and they are all awesome!  We got to try the 30 Latex Balloon Kit from Balloon Time. It included one helium tank, 30 assorted 9" latex balloons (we didn't use these, since we had our own baby shower balloons), and a spool of ribbon.  Balloon Time Kits are so easy to use!
