Baby Shower Bash #8: ThinkBaby!

Thinkbaby is the next Baby Shower Bash sponsor, and I love them! Their motto is "safer products for healthier babies". I mean, really, come on, who doesn't love that? They make some awesome baby products that are not only safe, but functional and sustainable as well. They really are a "think outside the box" type of company and I think that's why I like them so much!

From the Thinkbaby site:
Why a baby bottle?
When we introduced the thinkbaby over 4 years ago 95% of the baby bottles on the market were made of polycarbonate which contains BPA.  Initially, we attempted to convince the major companies to move off of polycarbonate, but after being unsuccessful we launched thinkbaby and thinksport to address the concern of chemicals leaching from consumer products.  We started with the baby bottle because polycarbonate was ubiquitous across the industry.  As little ones systems are still in a state of development they have very little defense against foreign chemicals.
While many companies have emerged to offer BPA Free baby bottles, many bottles not only still contain BPA despite saying BPA Free (see Health Canada study), but many companies have also landed on untested materials just because the material claims to be free of BPA.  thinkbaby utilizes the precautionary principle in the creation of all of our products. We don’t jump to “new” materials without doing the requisite testing to ensure that we haven’t landed on another “BPA-like” material.  When we target a product segment that concerns us, we ask the question, “How can we make the product line Safe. Functional. Sustainable.”  thinkbaby and thinksport’s focus has led us to be the first company to span safe consumer products ranging from baby to adults.

How is the thinkbaby bottle different?
Simply creating a baby bottle that was safe just wasn’t enough.  We went the extra mile to create a bottle that solved many parental complaints.  For example, most bottles on the market contain venting systems. Our system is built right into the nipple.  So there are no extra pieces to clean or potentially lose.
We then made the nipple No Spill through our cross cut design. This eliminated a large amount of mess that occurs during feeding.  It also mimics the way children feed during breastfeeding, as it requires them to apply pressure and nurse to receive fluid.
We also used a little forward thinking and designed the bottles to be convertible into our award winning Sippy Cup.  Most parents have between 8 to 16 baby bottles. And when it comes time to move to sippy cup they have to go out and spend a lot of money to acquire them, while also having to toss out all of the old baby bottles which are then destined for landfills.  With the conversion kit, parents can simply convert their existing baby bottles into our Sippy Cup which not only saves them money but it also saves the environment from excess waste.  Once parents are ready to move on to regular cups, the baby bottles can simply be recycled after use, as they are made from No. 5 plastic.
You may also notice that we do not use clear plastic windows with our products.  We have found that these windows are made from PET or PVC. It doesn’t make sense to take a safe baby bottle and put it up against something that can off gas onto the product."

Thinkbaby Starter Set
This is the Thinkbaby BPA -free Starter Set that we received as a gift for Crystal in our Baby Shower Bash! These bottles are free of BPA, lead, PVC, Phthlates, and any biologically harmful chemicals. This really is a great set! It includes two 5 ounce bottles with cross cut slow flow nipples for babies 0-3months of age, two 9oz bottles with medium flow nipples created for babies 3-6 months of age, and also 2 of their fast flow nipples specifically for babies 6-12 months of age. All of the nipples feature Thinkbaby's anti-colic design.

My favorite part of these bottles are the nipples. They are all easily identifiable with numbers (1, 2, 3) and you can pick and choose which one works best for your baby. The nipples are no-spill, because of the cross-cut design. This is a big deal for me, since my baby knocks over the bottle at least 27 times during each feeding. The design of the nipple mimics natural breastfeeding, since it forces your baby to actually nurse to receive formula, rather than just pouring it into their mouth like some nipples tend to do. The nipples are also Anti-Colic nipples, designed to reduce spit up and gas. What mommy doesn't love that, right? The nipples are all made of soft, medical grade silicone, to provide an easier transition from breast to bottle.

This is the thinkbaby sippy cup! It has won so many awards for how easy it makes the transition from bottle to cup! I really need one of these, since we are trying to wean Bean off the bottle, but he hates the feel of the sippy cup spout. That's why thinkbaby's sippy cup is so great, the spout is made from the same silicone as bottle nipples, so it feels familiar to little ones. .. Great idea, right?
This is the thinkbaby conversion kit. You simply buy this kit when your baby is ready to transition from bottle to cup, and transform your old Thinkbaby bottles into sippy cups. This means no throwing away old bottles simply because your baby doesn't need them anymore. I love that Thinkbaby is so eco-conscious about stuff like this! Isn't this a great idea!?

Thinkbaby is a really great company and I am so happy that I got the chance to work with them again!
