I'm going to Zumba. And I'm going to die.

So, that pretty much sums up my week. My bestest friend has finally talked me into going to a Zumba class with her on Thursday night. I am both excited and dreading this.
If you don't know what Zumba is, take a look at this:

Really, does anyone think I am going to be able to do this? I highly doubt it. I am going to make a fool out of myself. I am going to look REAL stupid. I have nothing to wear. I smoke. I get out of breath when I walk to the mailbox. I have high blood pressure. I am the most uncoordinated person I know. I am probably going to pass out. All of these are valid reasons against me doing this Zumba class.

Everyone I know who has ever went, has loved it, and has went back again. But, I am just so self conscious. I don't know if I can do this. I am too embarrassed to do the dvds unless I have all the shades closed. (And I am the only person who lives on my road!) Who knows, maybe it will be fun. Maybe it will bring me out of my shell. Maybe I will make new friends and get in shape. Or maybe, just maybe, I will have to fake a heart attack. I'll let you know how it goes. :)

  6. Thanks for popping over to my blog, I'm yet to try Zumba myself. Like you I freak out at the thoughts of trying to be that coordinated, I am working through my gym anxiety not sure if that extends to Zumba. Never say never though, quite a few of my friends rave about it. Very interested to hear how you go.

  7. haha just wear shorts and a tee shirt and sneakers, take a place in the back if you don't want anyone to be watching from behind, and have fun!

  9. Oh my gosh, how was Zumba? I've been to scared to show up for class - afraid I'll look like the big uncoordinated dork I am, but it does look like fun!! Hope you had a great time!!

  10. I love your crack about keeping the shades drawn when you work out in your house -- I was the same way about singing for YEARS (only in the car, with windows rolled up). It was my little darling toddling bear, deafened by love to my tuneless voice, that pulled me out of the shell.

Good goal to get into better shape no matter how you slice it. But boy can it be a slow climb.

  11. I need to start working out too. Zumba seems to be all the rage these days. It looks kinda sorta fun but I'm with you on wanting to do it in private somewhere with shades drawn down. I hope your first Zumba session was fun!
