Time To Prepare For Your Autumn Baby

If you’re expecting an autumn baby, you are probably already counting down the weeks before the delivery date! However,
be warned that only 5% of women give birth on their due date. Typically, to calculate your due date, your doctor refers to the
first day of your last period and adds 40 weeks – or 280 days. Which woman has a perfectly clockwork-like schedule period
that falls every 28 days? Not one. So, your due date may be off. If your cycles are shorter than 28 days, you’re likely to give
birth earlier. However, if your cycles are longer, you will give birth after the due date.
Nevertheless, while counting down the days until your due date may only be an estimation of when you’re due, it will only
change the time by a few days or weeks. Your autumn baby is still on the way, and therefore, you have a lot to do to prepare!

Discuss the delivery with the midwife
By that point, you already have found a midwife you can trust. As an expectant mother, it’s a good idea to plan bi-weekly
checks as you approach the due date – start a couple of weeks ahead in case your baby is premature. Why so? Because,
more often than not, a foetus ends up turning into the womb during the last weeks of pregnancy. The position of the fetus
will determine the delivery method.

Share your baby registry
If you haven’t already, now’s the time to throw a baby shower and share your registry. Indeed, you can use the baby shower
as an excuse to gather most of the essential baby kits you need. First of all, make sure a baby monitor makes it to the top of
the list. A video monitor is very helpful for new parents as it lets you check on your baby without getting to their room – and
risking waking them. Do yourself a favour and add a Morrck blanket on the list; it’s a fantastic blanket that is safe to use in
the car seat and keeps your baby warm for winter travels!

Get your hospital bag ready
Nobody knows when you will give birth. The human body is full of surprises, and your doctor will have a hard time predicting
an accurate due date. Therefore, it’s a good idea to keep your hospital bag packed in the weeks before the delivery date.
The last thing you want is to have to rush to the nearest hospital and forget all of the stuff you need. Packing early by your
36th week is a no-brainer.

Prepare the announcement
Is it too early to start thinking about your announcement picture? Of course not! If you want to wow your relatives and friends
, now’s the best time to get creative. You can prepare your favourite design, so that all there is left to do is to add the photo
of your baby and their name to the card.

Embrace the last month(s) of your pregnancy before meeting your little bundle of joy. There is still plenty of time to prepare
for their arrival; so make sure you are ready!
