Disclaimer: The Motor Oil Matters information and gift cards have been provided by Motor Oil Matters.
How often do you guys think about motor oil? If you are like me, the answer is probably not that often. I mean, occasionally, when it's time to get the oil changed, I might give motor oil a passing thought, but that's about it. But, I have decided that that fact really has to change. Like soon.
I was recently provided with some really interesting (and perhaps surprising!) information from MOM. What is MOM, you ask? MOM (Motor Oil Matters) is a new consumer education and industry watchdog program by the American Petroleum Institute. This nonprofit organization has been established to stress the benefits of quality licensed motor oils and call on to the carpet those who engage in deceptive practices. With the summer driving season ramping up, MOM wants to remind you to be in the know when it comes to motor oil changes.
Here's just a bit of the information they sent my way that has prompted me to be more proactive and informed about motor oil matters:
• AAA expects between the major summer holidays of Memorial Day and Labor Day to aid over eight million motorists, and cautions drivers that auto maintenance is key to avoiding summertime travel breakdowns. Ensuring quality motor oil in your car is one way to prevent road trip problems.
• Motor Oil Matters, or MOM, a new consumer education and industry watchdog program by the American Petroleum Institute, has been established to stress the benefits of quality licensed motor oils and call on to the carpet those who engage in deceptive practices.
• Service-locators can be quick to offer discounted services to people who are looking to reduce their automotive maintenance costs. Make sure your service provider is pouring quality motor oil into your car before you decide on a cheaper deal.
Now, when it comes to cars and getting the oil changed, I am pretty much clueless, but I have decided to change that! The folks from MOM sent me a checklist to help me make sure that I know exactly what is going on when I get my oil changed, and you guys should take a look at it too! It is pretty dang informative!
I feel much more ready to go get my oil changed without my hubby, and MOM is sending me a $50 gift card to go get it done, and see how much of a "big girl" I can be! If you are interested in learning more about MOM, or what YOU need to know about Motor Oil Matters, check out MOM's website, Facebook page, or Twitter page to keep up with all of the important stuff you need to know!!
As if that wasn't enough, MOM has been kind enough to donate ANOTHER $50 VISA gift card for a lucky Flip Out Mama reader can have their oil changed as well!! Isn't that awesome!? Enter to win below, and if you are the lucky winner, don't forget to bring your MOM checklist along for your oil change!! Check back soon to see how I fare on my oil change adventure!
