Sometimes it seems like my whole life is a mishap of some sort! Really, it's like every day there is some kind of crisis or catastrophe. As we speak, Bean just knocked the metal door off of the fuse box somehow. How did he get to it? Who knows! I swear, this house is like a circus!!
Of all the mishaps I have faced, there is perhaps one that stands out in my mind as, while maybe not the worst, definitely the one that hurt me the most!
When Tater has two, we decided to take a trip to the zoo. It was the first time we had ever done anything like that since becoming a "family", and we were really excited! Although we got lost along the way,
and the 1.5 hour trip to the zoo took almost four hours, we were still optimistic and happy when we arrived! It was going to be a great day!
Back then, I was a "prepared" mom. I had packed us a whole bag of nice snacks, including some fruit and bottles of water. I had one of those fancy little "cooler bags", with the aluminum stuff on the inside to keep all our little goodies cold.
As soon as we walked through the zoo entrance, I was really excited! I had my hands full though, with all Tater's baby supplies, stroller, our snacks, etc. So, I did what any mom would do. I grabbed mine and my hubby's brand new iPhones and stuck them safely inside Tater's diaper bag.
Except.
It. Wasn't. Tater's. Diaper. Bag.
I stuck the phones down in the cooler bag. The cooler bag that now contained the leaking water bottle. Yup, the leaking water bottle that was now leaking all over our brand new phones!
And the best part is, I didn't realize it until we went to eat lunch, around 2 hours later!!
The new phones were literally swimming around in a whole bottle's full of water! LOVELY!!!
Oh my goodness, was the hubs mad!
That was one long, and very quiet, ride home!!!
Of course, we had no protection plan or phone insurance, so we were just screwed!!
Ahh, now it is a funny story to remember! But, oh no, not at the time!!!
Apparently, I am not the only one who has mobile mishaps, though!

My husband had just started his first job in his profession. They gave him a fancy new smart phone and he was really proud of it. A month later it is Christmas morning and...I washed it! I still feel horrible! I have never (knock on wood) done that before or since. Why couldn't it have been my crappy phone instead! I still feel bad!
ReplyDeleteMy worst mobile mishap wasn't technically a mishap at all I suppose.
ReplyDeleteLet me preface this by saying I am NOT a violent or rageful (is that a word?) person. But when I found out my then five year old daughter's brain cancer might be back while talking to the oncologist on the cell phone - I threw the damn thing as far and as hard as I could. As if throwing it and smashing it would someone destroy the cancer/news I had just received.
*And that time, it turned out to be scar tissue and not cancer at all.

Mobile Mishap... not getting unlimited texting for my teenage daughter! A month later, I get the $3200 bill... and yeah.. that is my mobile mishap! Definitely a lesson learned. .

I dropped my iphone while riding on ride at the state fair (I know I should not have took the phone on the ride)and cracked the screen. I did not have insurance on the phone, so I had to get a new iphone. My husband was not happy.

I'm a geek...just say that up front. I had just bought my first smartphone (I was a very early adopter) and wore it proudly in a case on my belt on my hips. One day I went to my daughters and while I was there a nasty storm came in. I needed to use the rest room and while I was in there finishing up I stood up and at that exact same time a bolt of lightning hit very close by! I jumped at the sound and kersplash!! Mr. Hanky had a phone of his own!!
