What's Wrong With Me? (and my heart)

Okay everybody, I feel like I need to take a minute and make a post about some personal stuff for a little bit.

For the last couple of months, I have been feeling really "weird". I really have had no idea what has been going on. My chest has been hurting, sort of a dull ache off and on, that has progressed to now pretty much all the time. My heart beats so fast it feels like it is going to pop out of my chest. I've been dizzy, short of breath, and sort of feel like I am going to faint a lot.

So, on Wednesday, I went to see a cardiologist. He is pretty sure it is my heart, and that I was born with an "extra wire".It is something called "Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome" (WPW), and it affects around one in every 1000 people. Lucky Me!

Pretty much, most people go their whole life with no symptoms, even though they are born with this "extra wire". When symptoms do develop, they are usually first noticed between the ages of 27-29, so I am right on target lol. The only cure pretty much, is a surgery where a catheter is used to "burn" off the extra wire. Sounds a little scary to me, but it looks like the road I will be heading down in the next few months.

This whole process has created a whole new set of issues for me, anxiety on a level that I have never experienced before. I am just really ready to go back to the doctor in December and get this taken care of. I am only 25 years old, I really never expected to be worrying about heart issues. I mean, really??

So, I just wanted to take a few minutes and explain my sporadic blogging, and my mysterious absences. I just simply have had too much on my plate lately, and haven't been able to handle it all. My wonderful hubs has been super supportive, and tries to help as much as he can, but as most of you know, aside from my hubs and kids, my family is pretty much non-existent in my life, especially on a "we care that you are going to have heart surgery" level.

But, I have been on a new medicine for three days now, and I am beginning to feel much better. The dull ache is still there, but the palpitations, dizziness, and sharp stabbing pains have for the most part subsided. So for now, I take it easy, and wait it out until my next doctor's appointment. Lucky for you, I will be back to blogging soon, since I am feeling much better!

I just wanted to take a minute to explain to you guys what has been going on! Have a great weekend!

Love,
Dawn :)
