I have GOT to simplify my life.

Mama is stressed yall.

I feel like I am being pulled eleventy thousand different ways, and I can't do anything totally. Only pieces of things, a little at a time. I would love to say that I think it's because it's of Christmas, but I am not sure what it is because of. I am just trying to think of some ways to simplify my life. I have a few ideas, but I don't know really if they will work or not.

Here are some of the things I am going to try to do to make things easier:

Cook Ahead/OAMC
I think this will probably be the single most helpful thing I can do. One thing that weighs pretty heavy on me is the fact that when I work nights during the week (Thursday-Sunday), the boys will eat something quick and easy to make, like mac and cheese, or a frozen dinner. I hate this, I feel like they are not eating well because I am not there to make it for them. So, in the next few days, I am going to start trying to do a little bit of freezer cooking. I have read about freezer cooking forever now, I just have never been brave enough to try it. I am not sure if I am brave enough to do full on "Once A Month Cooking",  but at least a little bit will be a help. Because to me, those meals in the freezer, are as good as money in the bank. :)

Better Clothes Organization

This is something else that I think will help tremendously. I am going to start laying out our clothes before bed, and the boy's pj's before I head to work. Whether it is hubby's work clothes in the morning, or Tater's school clothes, there is always some kind of drama in the mornings because someone can't find something. I am also going to start laying out the boy's pj's before I go to work at night. Sometimes I come home to find that hubs couldn't "find" the boys pj's so they have went to bed in the same clothes they wore all day, and it aggravates me to no end. So, if I go ahead and lay them out, then there will be no excuses. Plus in the mornings, this should save some time :)

Bulk Shopping

One other thing I am going to try to do is buy a few things in bulk, such as trash bags, toilet paper, paper towels, diapers, wipes, formula, and baby food. I am sooooo tired of constantly running out of these things, and having to drag the boys to the store to pick up one or two things. I really need to get back into the drugstore game. I always really enjoyed my CVS shopping and my Extra Care Bucks. Plus, I got sooo much free stuff!

Blog Organization
Now, this is one that I really need a lot of help with. I need to work a lot on getting my blog in order. There is so much stuff I have been wanting to do for awhile, layout and photos, etc.. I also need a better system for keeping track of my reviews/giveaways. If any of you other bloggers out there have any tips for helping me organize my bloggy stuff, I would love to know!

Organize/Purge

Especially since it is so close to Christmas, I really need to work hard on getting rid of the things we don't need, and finding a "place" for everything that we do need. I know that in less than two weeks we will be introducing tons more crap into our house, so I am going to have to even that out somewhere. And, oh, the Christmas trash! I am going to start a recycling box, since we live out in the boondocks and don't have curbside recycling. I will have to put it in the box and then drive it to the recycling center, but this will definitely cut down on that package clutter.

Thankfully, the boys shopping is DONE! I say this, but we know I will still be picking up a few things in the next week or so, but for the most part, presents, Santa, stockings, it's all done! I started super early this year, because I know things were going to be tight, so I could make sure the boys still have a good Christmas. It is really important to me, and I go a little overboard, but that's the way I like it!

Do you guys have any ideas of things I could do to help simplify, and cause less stress around here? I would LOVE to hear from you!

  1. All of the things you listed are great ideas. I think that this is something we all struggle with. I've been on a journey to simplify my life, and that of my family's, for a little while now. I've had to do it over time.

I would love for you to come on over to my blog and see how we've been doing it, one layer at a time...

If you click on "Focus of the Month", it might make it easier.

I hope you'll share your journey with us on your blog! I would love to follow along! :)
