I love the concept behind Ella's Kitchen organic baby & toddler food! Ella's Kitchen was started by a dad (Ella's!) who was looking for convenient, healthy, fun foods for Ella when she was a baby. He couldn't find anything that fit the bill, so Ella's Kitchen was born!
Ella's Kitchen believes in making food that is fun for kids to eat. In fact, they take a "kid's view" when making their products with the colors, flavors, and names.
Ella's Kitchen currently makes stage 1 organic baby food in some pretty cool flavors for babies, such as carrots/apples/parsnips, spinach/apples/rutabaga, and butternut squash/carrots/apples/prunes. They also have some "plainer" flavors such as strawberries+apples, and apples+bananas.
They also make "smoothie fruits" for toddlers and older kids. The idea behind this is great, and I can't say it any better than they do on the site:
"Ella’s Kitchen Smoothie Fruits are a fab way to solve the common problem moms and dads face when a piece of fruit comes home uneaten in their kid’s lunchbox, all because 'it had a brown spot', 'was a bit mushy' - or 'made my fingers sticky' - these are just a few of Ella’s excuses! We hope we can help solve this problem and also offer a replacement to less healthy lunchbox foods"
These are a great idea, because I also have a youngin who won't eat anything that gets him sticky, has a brown spot, is too hard or too soft, etc... Smoothie Fruits are classified by their color. There is The Red One strawberries, raspberries, apples and bananas ), The Yellow One ( bananas, mangoes, apricots and apples), The Green One ( apples, pears, banana, and kiwi), and The Purple One ( blackcurrants, blueberries, apples and bananas). I love the idea of these!
What Mama Thinks:
I was impressed with these. The kicker was when Tater ate the smoothie fruits and actually liked them. Bean is not a good reviewer, since he is a giant hog, and will eat any and everything you put in front of him! I love that the smoothie fruits have nothing added, not even water. I also like that the baby foods include things that I wouldn't normally give Beanie, like rutabaga and prunes. I really like these, and I think we will be buying them in the future! Thanks, Ella's Kitchen!
